Getting to Arran

Arran is within easy travelling distance of two airports: Glasgow International and (Glasgow) Prestwick airport. Rail and road connections exist which allow you to travel from these airports to the port of Ardrossan.

By car: From Glasgow city centre, the journey takes less than an hour. Travelling directions to Ardrossan can be found from either the AA's (www.theaa.com) or RAC's web site (www.rac.co.uk).

By bus: Stagecoach operate the North Ayrshire Express (services X36 and X43/X44) that travels to Ardrossan from Glasgow's Buchanan Bus Station, more information can be found on the Stagecoach West Scotland web site located at: www.stagecoachbus.com.

By rail: Regular train services are operated by First ScotRail and depart from Glasgow Central Station to Ardrossan, more information can be found on the First ScotRail web site located at: www.firstscotrail.com.

In order to get from Ardrossan to Isle of Arran, you have to get a ferry. Ferry services to and from the island are operated by Calmac (Caledonian MacBrayne), from the Scottish mainland port of Ardrossan to the port of Brodick on the Isle of Arran. The journey takes approximately an hour, prices and timetables can be found on the Calmac (www.calmac.co.uk/arran) web site.
